Transport, Inc. was founded in
1969 by Keith C. O誰eale, Sr.
who was at the time employed as
a shipping manager for Florida
Van Lines. Florida Van lines was
a shipping company that brought
loose cargo to Christiansted,
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
There were no warehousing
facilities available at this
dock, so the cargo from Florida
Van Lines had to be covered by
tarpaulins and left on the dock.
This resulted in a tremendous
amount of pilferage.
Additionally, most consignees
wanted their cargo delivered as
soon as possible. However, the
only trucking company on St.
Croix at that time was not able
to provide prompt delivery of
such large volume of cargo,
therefore the cargo frequently
remained on the dock for long
periods of time.
In August
1969, Keith C. O誰eale, Sr.
decided to provide a solution
that would meet the needs of the
shipper and the consignees. He
purchased a truck to deliver
cargo arriving in St. Croix on
Florida Van Lines vessels. The
new truck arrived on Saturday,
October 29, 1969 and although it
could not be licensed until
Monday, it made its first
delivery that day.
Six months later Mr. O誰eale,
Sr. purchased another truck and
by October 1970, the fleet
consisted of three large Flat
Bed trucks and one pick up
truck. The Company was well on
its way.
One of the primary reasons for
the success of O誰eale痴
Transport is the loyalty and
dedication of its employees. Mr.
O誰eale痴 gratitude was
boundless to those employees who
toiled together with him in
making this Company a bigger and
better place to work.
Since then the Company has been
getting stronger and stronger
and has been at its present
location at the Container Port
since 1983. The company remains
in family hands, run today by
Mr. O誰eale痴 son, Keith C.
O誰eale, Jr.
